Job Description

Business Systems Lead

At Sportradar, we're scaling fast—and behind every winning team is a powerful ecosystem of tools that keeps things running seamlessly. We're looking for a Business Systems Lead to own and evolve our internal platforms across People, Legal, Sales, Marketing, and more. This is a strategic, high-impact role where you'll connect business needs with smart technology decisions, driving automation, integration, and innovation at scale.
You'll be at the heart of cross-functional collaboration—aligning stakeholders, optimizing systems like Salesforce and Workday, and ensuring our business tools are not only fit for today but built for tomorrow. If you're passionate about creating structure out of complexity, spotting opportunities to improve how work gets done, and leading system strategy with both insight and influence, this is your challenge.

The Challenge

  • Own and evolve the non-finance business systems portfolio: Lead the management of Sportradar’s internal platforms for People, Legal, Sales, Marketing, and other corporate functions – ensuring these systems effectively support business processes and can scale with the company’s growth. (Finance systems like Workday Financials, Coupa, etc., are handled by another team.)

  • Bridge business and technology: Act as the strategic liaison between technical teams (engineering, IT) and business stakeholders. You will translate business requirements into clear technical plans and roadmaps, then guide their successful execution to deliver tangible business value.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with department leads in People (HR), Legal, Sales, Marketing, etc., to identify opportunities for process improvement, system integration, and automation. Your goal is to ensure our tools (e.g. HRIS, CRM, contract management) interconnect seamlessly and meet the real needs of users.

  • Manage key platforms & vendors: Oversee the performance and roadmap of critical SaaS applications such as Salesforce, Workday (HRIS), and other enterprise tools in your portfolio. Ensure high availability, data integrity, and strong user adoption of these systems. Liaise with vendors and implementation partners, negotiate contracts, and stay on top of platform updates – leveraging new features to benefit the business.

  • Strategic planning & governance: Define the long-term strategy for Sportradar’s business systems (outside finance) in line with company objectives. Prioritize initiatives, manage budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time. You’ll also maintain proper governance and compliance (e.g. data privacy, SOX controls where applicable) in collaboration with our security and compliance teams.

  • Mentor and lead: Potentially guide a small team of application specialists or project teams. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving when it comes to our internal tools and processes.

Your Profile

  • Experienced Leader: You have extensive experience (ideally 7+ years) managing enterprise business applications or corporate IT systems at a senior level. You know how to oversee complex application ecosystems and have led cross-functional initiatives before.

  • Excellent Communicator & Translator: You excel at communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can translate complex IT concepts into plain business language (and vice versa), enabling effective collaboration with departments like HR, Legal, Sales, and Marketing.

  • Strategic & Analytical Thinker: You take a big-picture view. You can craft a technology roadmap that aligns with business strategy, and you approach decisions with data and careful analysis. You’re adept at balancing immediate operational needs with long-term vision.

  • Systems Knowledge: Strong hands-on knowledge of major SaaS and enterprise platforms. Experience with Salesforce and Workday (HCM or ERP modules) is essential – you understand their capabilities and how to maximize them for business benefit. Familiarity with Ironclad or other contract management/legal tech solutions is a plus (not mandatory).

  • Cross-Functional Insight: You have worked across various business domains and understand how HR, Finance, Legal, Sales, etc. interconnect. This enables you to foresee downstream impacts of system changes and to drive company-wide improvements (even though finance systems are out of scope for this role, you will interface with the finance system team frequently).

  • Adaptable & Problem-Solver: Thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are not afraid to dive into a problem, whether it's a data integration issue or a user adoption challenge, and you come up with creative solutions. You stay current with tech trends and seek continuous improvement.

  • Leadership & Ownership: You take ownership and lead by example. Whether or not you have direct reports, you’re comfortable coordinating cross-departmental project teams. You can influence without authority and drive initiatives to completion. A track record of mentoring team members or leading project teams is desirable.

  • Education: A degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field is preferred (or equivalent work experience). Relevant certifications (e.g. Salesforce or Workday certifications, ITIL, PMP, etc.) would be an advantage.
