With Sports Data: Innovation Challenge 2018 approaches
Preparations for the Innovation Challenge 2018, powered by Sportradar, are already well underway with the deadline for applications now just a month away.
The challenge will be held at Vienna University on Friday, June 1st and applications close on Friday, May 4th for an event that aims to inspire the next generation of sports tech talent to create innovative products and solutions with Sportradar’s sports data.
Last year’s event in Ljubljana saw team RevolutION pick up the victory, along with €4,000 prize money, with their esports-focused product and 2018 is set to be another keenly contested affair.
All contestants need is an idea and to have submitted their team application by May 4th – ahead of the warm-up event a day later – and Malte Siegle, Sportradar’s Head of University and Research Programme, says attendees should consider it an “unlimited playground” of ideas.
“The Innovation Challenge is about engaging young students in the field of sports data, especially in areas of particular interest to Sportradar,” Siegle explained.
“Sportradar covers the whole chain of sports data, we provide several products and services around sports data and the students should just follow their motivation and interest. It really is an unlimited playground for the students to come up with new, innovative ideas.”
As well as the prize money of €1,000 per team member, the winners of the Innovation Challenge also have the potential chance to cooperate with Sportradar and put their plan into fruition while there are often opportunities for employment and internships with Sportradar.
Fiorella Vari Castro – Assistant Project Manager – added: “Sportradar is always looking to come up with innovative ideas and students are in a great position to create those ideas because they are always up to date because of university and their lifestyles – interacting with different technologies.
“Obviously, that’s very good for us and it gives us a chance to find professionals with a lot of talent, which is important for the company.”
