Sportradar and ITF shortlisted for Best Sports Technology Partnership Award
Sportradar and its long-term partner, the International Tennis Federation, have been shortlisted for this year’s Sports Technology Awards in the category “Best Technology Partnership in a Single Sport”. With its customised live scoring technology for umpires, Sportradar and the ITF have set new standards in the collection and distribution of real-time data, covering more than 55,000 tennis matches per year.
The Sports Technology Awards were launched to recognise and celebrate the increasingly important role that technology plays in sport. The Awards, hosted in London, honour successful technological innovation across all aspects of the sports sector: acknowledging distinction and marking the organisations which are shortlisted and win as truly outstanding. The judges are drawn from various parts of the sports industry, ranging from global brands like Adidas, Barclays or Twitter to Olympic medallists or respected academic researchers.
As an example par excellence, the partnership between Sportradar and ITF has been proven to be very successful in terms of how technology and sports can be combined to create significant value for fans and sponsors. The live scoring technology, as a key pillar of this partnership, provides tennis fans with live data from across more than 1,200 ITF tournaments per year and takes over the whole data collection and delivery process for the ITF.
“Since we started working together in 2012, we have seen amazing developments across our ITF partnership. Tennis has become the second most important sport behind soccer and the fact that we are able to collect live data from over 55,000 tennis matches per year is just incredible and shows how powerful and far reaching our live scoring has become”, said Dr. Johannes Ranke, Managing Director Sports Data & Licensing.
The successful relationship has just recently been underlined by the extension of the current agreement for five more years, until 2021, making it a long-lasting partnership which will see further exciting products and services, all leveraging the power of the live scoring technology.
