Sportadar helps power TeamUP! in Bremen
Sportradar continued its commitment to supporting the next generation of sports tech innovation talent recently by co-hosting the TeamUP! event alongside Hochschule Bremen (HSB).
The event followed a similar theme to Sportradar’s Innovation Challenge and saw students pick and compete in one of three tasks over the course of a day, including Sportradar’s ‘Innovation in Sports Data’.
The winning team – made up of three Media Design students from HSB – opted for the Sportradar challenge and produced a data-driven algorithm that would attempt to explain in-game occurrences based on off-field situations using news archives and media sources.
The trio will all be invited to Sportradar’s Bremen office in the coming weeks where they will have the opportunity to discuss and finesse their idea in greater detail as well as gaining further insight into Sportradar’s work and operations.
Present from Sportradar were Dr. Malte Siegle, Head of the University & Research Programme, and Dennis Penning, a Senior Software Engineer and Product Owner, with the former explaining: “The TeamUP! event here in Bremen was a real success.
“We saw a lot of motivated teams and entrepreneurs who really came up with exciting, new ideas and it was an extra boost for Sportradar that the overall winners of TeamUP! worked on our challenge – Innovation in Sports Data.”
Penning, who served as a mentor to students during the event, added: “It is important to support young people and students. We at Sportradar do our very best to fulfil this task. Personally, it was a great experience and I am very much looking forward to the visit of the winning team to our office here in Bremen.”
