Innovation Challenge warms up in Vienna

The Innovation Challenge warm-up event took place at The University of Vienna on Saturday with students putting the foundations for their idea in place with the help of Sportradar data.

Participants and teams from across Europe headed to the University’s Sportzentrum on Saturday morning and, with the help of Sportradar and LAOLA1’s mentors, took their initial ideas to the next level ahead of the next stage.

Ideas ranged across the fields of sports marketing, sponsorship and tech, with teams now having the next few weeks to finesse their plans and work further with the mentors before delivering their demo pitch at LAOLA1’s offices in Vienna.

Sportradar’s Head of University and Research Programmes, Malte Siegle, said: “It’s been another really positive chapter for the Innovation Challenge and a great way to officially kick off the 2018 event.

“We’ve had some really enthusiastic students here today who have come up with some interesting ideas. We can’t wait to see what they come up with over the next few weeks with the help of our mentoring team.”

Student Rokas Slinke, from the EPS team, said: “It’s great to be into the final stage of the Innovation Challenge and, even though there’s a long way to go yet, it feels like we’ve already won a little bit because of the advice and information we’ve taken on board.

“We’re all looking forward to improving our idea soon and presenting it and hopefully winning the prize!”
